Dr. Pat Spearman's career reflects a unique blend of military expertise, legislative acumen, and academic prowess. Her work spans national and state-level policy development, community service, and academic instruction, demonstrating a commitment to public service and leadership. Her background in energy policy, coupled with her military experience, positions her as a knowledgeable advocate in areas of commerce, labor, health, and human services, as well as veteran affairs and environmental issues.
Dr. Spearman is serving in her fourth term as a Nevada State Senator, representing Senate District 1 in North Las Vegas. She is a retired Lieutenant Colonel, U.S. Army and she holds several accredited degrees including a Bachelor of Science (BS) in Political Science from the Norfolk State University, a Master of Divinity (M. Div.) from The Seminary of the Southwest; and a Doctor of Business Administration (DBA) from Walden University with an emphasis on Energy Policy.

Dr. Spearman's legislative experience includes Majority Co-Whip (2017-present) current Chair of Senate Commerce and Labor Committee, Vice Chair of Senate Committee on Health and Human Services, Member of Growth and Infrastructure.

She is active at the national level of governing as well. Her service includes Chair of the West Trends Board, Past Chair of Active Military and Veterans Affairs subcommittee, member Energy and Environmental Public Policy Committee, member of Health and Human Services, and the Executive Committee for the Counsel of State Governments. She currently serves as a member of the Energy Resource Task Force, and the Natural Resources and Infrastructure Committee of the National Conference of State Legislators. She is a State Director for Women in Government and Women in Legislative Lobby. Dr. Spearman is also a member of the Government Relations Advisory Board for the Las Vegas Metro Armed Forces Chamber of Commerce.

Dr. Spearman is an Ordained Minister, former Pastor, and serves on the Global Social Justice Ministry Team of The Fellowship of Affirming Ministries. She is also a former part-time lecturer at the University of Louisville and Professor of Military Science at Kentucky State University. Dr. Spearman served in the U.S. Army for more than two decades, retiring as a Lieutenant Colonel. Her final assignment was at the Pentagon as a member of the Army Operations Center for worldwide missions.
