OUR
MISSION
The
mission of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored
People is to ensure the political, educational, social and economic
equality of rights of all persons and to eliminate race-based discrimination.
VISION
STATEMENT
The
vision of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored
People is to ensure a society in which all individuals have equal
rights without discrimination based on race.
OBJECTIVES
The
following statement of objectives is found on the first page of the
NAACP Constitution.
The
principal objectives of the Association shall be:
To ensure the political, educational,
social, and economic equality of all citizens
To achieve equality of rights
and eliminate race prejudice among the citizens of the United States
To remove all barriers of racial
discrimination through democratic processes
To seek enactment and enforcement
of federal, state and local laws securing civil rights
To inform the public of the
adverse effects of racial discrimination and to seek its elimination
To educate persons as to their
constitutional rights and to take all lawful action to secure the
exercise thereof, and to take any other lawful action in furtherance
of these objectives, consistent with the NAACP's Articles of Incorporation
and this Constitution.
The NAACP is the nation's leading and longest-established civil
rights organization. It has been the foremost champion of the civil
rights movement for more than 100 years. Reno-Sparks Branch No.
1112 was chartered in 1945.

Dear
Supporters:
The Reno-Sparks Branch of the National Association for the Advancement
of Colored People (NAACP) needs your support.
The NAACP works to achieve opportunity for everyone, so they may enjoy
the American dream: equal access to life, liberty and the pursuit
of happiness.
Over the
past few years, the Reno-Sparks Branch has:

Implemented
"Back to School Stay in School;" six events per year that
reduce student dropout rates and increase academic achievement
-
Provided
over $75,000 for youth programs and scholarships with no administrative
costs
-
Coordinated
efforts to increase 2010 Census participation with faith-based and
other organizations
-
Conducted
Business Development and Personal Financial Management workshops
-
Registered
over 13,000 new voters statewide as part of the NAACP National Voter
Fund and the NAACP Nevada Election Empowerment program
-
Received
recognition as one of the top NAACP branches for outstanding programs
during two national NAACP Annual Conventions
-
Participated
on advisory committees from city, county and state governments,
the Washoe County School District and local law enforcement agencies
to provide insight on diversity issues
-
Continued
to fight for equal opportunity in housing, employment and public
accommodations in Northern Nevada
How
you can support the NAACP:
1. Fund Platinum Sponsorship of
$3,000 for our annual Freedom Fund Banquet.
This includes a full-page ad in the banquet program, a corporate banner
at the banquet and corporate sponsor recognition during the next year.
(Contributions or gifts to this NAACP unit are generally not tax deductible
as charitable contributions for federal income tax purposes.)
2. Donate $2,000 to our "Back
to School Stay in School" program. Donations must be made payable
to "NAACP, SCF" (Special Contribution Fund). Donations should
be noted "for the Reno-Sparks Back to School Stay In School Program."
[Contributions to this 501 (c) 3 program are generally tax deductible.]
